She may have taken partial retirement from lending her unforgettable voice to Bollywood movies but that doesn’t mean that legendary singer Asha Bhosle is remaining idle.
The 80-year-old is set to open the latest branch of her eponymous eatery ‘Asha’s’ in Manchester, it was announced today.
According to reports she will be attending the launch party of the new restaurant this autumn.
The Manchester branch of Asha’s is the second UK branch of the popular chain which already has a presence across the Middle East.
And the new one will be huge: 6000 square feet with a restaurant and bar spread over two floors in the city’s Peter Street.
Cooking is said to be Ashaji’s second passion, one which led her to establishing the first Asha’s in Dubai in 2002.
The new restaurant in Manchester will be overseen by well-known promoter Peter Warden, who said: “We are tremendously excited about our new upcoming cocktail bar and restaurant in Manchester.
This will be our tenth Asha’s around the world and for the Manchester venue we have taken a major leap forward in the evolution of the brand.
I am sure that the good people of Manchester will be delighted with the fantastic decor, delicious drinks and award-winning food that they will be able to enjoy when we open in October.”
The menu will include traditional Indian cuisine with a modern twist and of course Ashaji’s own variations.
She once said of her burgeoning business: “Cooking is a lot like singing, it brings joy and pleasure to my audience; or as I choose to think of them, my special guests.”
