A student from Nagpur who is officially the world’s shortest woman is set for Hollywood stardom after being cast in the US TV series ‘American Horror Story’.
Jyoti Amge, 20, who stands at just 2ft 0.6in tall, will star alongside such Hollywood heavyweights as Jessica Lange, James Cromwell, Kathy Bates and Joseph Fiennes in the hit drama series.
Ms Amge has previously appeared on a Discovery documentary series and in series six of Bigg Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother.
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy made the announcement, posting a picture of Jyoti alongside multiple-Oscar winner Lange.
American Horror Story is an anthology series meaning the show begins as a new mini-series each season.
Jyoti was officially declared the world’s shortest woman on her 18th birthday in 2011, replacing previous record holder Bridgette Jordan.
She has has a condition called achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, and is not expected to grow further.
“I feel grateful to be this size, after all if I weren’t small and had not achieved these world records I might never have been able to visit Japan and Europe, and many other wonderful countries,” she said at the time.
Jyoti has attended regular school since she was four and has just finished her high school exams.
She plans to undertake a university degree but international fame, it seems, beckons first.
