He may have the security of being the son of Bollywood’s biggest and most respected actor, be married to a woman some still consider to be the most beautiful in the world and perks galore but the fact that Abhishekh Bachchan hasn’t had a hit movie in a not-insignificant while hasn’t escaped peers, critics or his still ardent fans.
His latest film however, seems destined to change that tide.
Junior Bachchan’s comic turn as a rather unwitting con artist in the film – starring Ajay Devgan – has gone down a storm with the all-important triumvirate of Bollywood fraternity, critics and fans.
Director Kunal Kohli has said the movie is “phenomenal” whilst Ashutosh Gowariker found the actor’s turn as Abbas Ali/Abhishek Bachchan to be “outstanding”.
Actor Suniel Shetty meanwhile exclaimed; “Mind blowing! Abhishek’s best performance. Abhishek at his best and I was reminded of Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) in his young days.”
Critics have been universal in their praise of ‘Bol Bachchan’ as well with leading outlets such as Filmfare and Times of India giving it 4 and 3.5 stars out of 5 respectively.
Fans who have seen early previews have been equally gushing.
No more content though than the 36-year-old star himself, who told IANS: “So far the response gone well. Fingers crossed”.
The film also stars Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.
