A well-known Bollywood producer with a penchant for photographing young models and actresses has been found strangled to death inside his apartment in Mumbai.
Navraj Kwatra, 65, was the son of acclaimed Punjabi poet Amrita Pritam.
His body was found bound and gagged by neighbours on Friday afternoon, Mumbai police say.
Reports say police had discovered scores of obscene photos of young women, pills of Viagra as well as sex toys inside the apartment that he used as a photography studio in the suburb of Andheri in Mumbai.
Police also found hidden cameras installed inside the changing room and toilet of the studio apartment.
Neighbours have told police of hearing a screaming coming from the apartment around midday, Friday, moments before two men were seen running from Kwatra’s apartment.
Kwatra’s wife Alka has also told police that robbery may have been the motive.
The couple reportedly own several bungalows in the capital Delhi, where Alka lives.
She told the Indian Express newspaper that Kwatra had sold one of the bungalows for Rs 150m (1.7m) last year, purchasing several smaller properties in Mumbai.
He had also kept some cash at the apartment.
