A Punjabi couple in Bradford, Yorks has become the world’s longest married couple after celebrating their 87th wedding anniversary.
Karam Chand, 107, and his wife Katari,100, have 8 children and 28 grandchildren and say the secret to their wedded bliss is looking after each other in every possible way.
“My trick is to make Katari laugh. I like to tell jokes and make her smile. Being funny is my way of being romantic.” Karam told The Daily Mail.
“I have been told laughing makes you live longer… my wife is still alive so it must have worked. I love her so much and I want to spend another 80 years by her side.”
The Chands’ marriage has lasted five years longer than the current holders of the record.
The couple – who had an arranged marriage – are set to celebrate their feat with a party attended by the Mayor of Bradford and members of their community later this month.
