#BrothersAug14: ‘Sapna Jahan’ – Love and Tenderness in a Bloody World

Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra’s much-anticipated new drama ‘Brothers’ is being widely touted as India’s first “Sports” movie, given that it takes place in the bruising world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

At its heart however, the film – an official remake of the 2011 Hollywood classic ‘Warriors’, starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton- has a narrative that runs far deeper than the blood-soaked mat of the MMA ring.

Much like the original, ‘Brothers’ too is a tale about family, fathers and sons, honour, redemption and love.

The task of capturing the essence of those themes through song fell to composer duo and real life brothers Ajay and Atul Gogavale – AKA ‘Ajay Atul’ – and gifted lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Among the highlights of the film’s soundtrack is ‘Sapna Jahan’, which terrifically captures the love, romance and tenderness that is found even in a world riven by conflict.

The song takes the listener on a journey of discovery through the romance between David (Akshay Kumar) and Jenny (Jacqueline Fernandez) and is sung by Neeti Mohan and Sonu Nigam.
