#DownwardDog: Stressed out lawyers do ‘Yoga in the City’

Lawyers are said to be among the most stressed workers in any big city and London’s no exception.

So, inspired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to train the human mind for peace and harmony, the UK’s Hindi Lawyer’s Association (HLA) hosted its first Yoga in the City event this month.

The event took place in the capital’s famous legal heartland – Lincoln’s Inn Field in Holborn and saw dozens of legal professionals and bankers practice Yoga and meditation, led by Ameet Aggarwal and Jaymini chouhan from the Art of Living Foundation UK.

Participants were introduced to yogic postures in a fun and light way freeing their minds from the busy working day.

“As an organisation, the HLA wanted to introduce legal professionals and other city workers to yoga techniques which would re-invigorate their minds and provide calamity from within”, said Angeli Vadera, Vice Chair of the Hindu Lawyers Association.

Aggarwal, from Art of Living, said: “Yoga is a great way of attaining deep rest and energizing the self at the same time.  It can come in handy to up your career graph. The mind, which is often stuck with the past and anxious about the future, can deprive you of living in the present and giving your best at what you are doing.”
