#Honours: Leander Paes, Sumit Nagal cap fabulous Wimbledon 2015 for India

Indian Tennis legend Leander Paes won his 16th Grand Slam doubles title on Sunday as he and partner Martina Hingis cruised to victory in the Mixed Doubles final, a day after Hingis had partnered another India – Sania Mirza – to collect the Ladies Doubles title.

Paes’ win – his fifth Wimbledon doubles title – came 25 years after he had claimed the junior boy’s title at SW19.

Sunday’s victory was arguably Paes’ easiest as he and Hingis took just 40 minutes to obliterate Timea Babos of Hungary and Alexander Peya of Austria 6-1, 6-1.

The Wimbledon title is the second Grand Slam of the year for Paes and Hingis after claiming the Australian Open earlier this year.

Paes’ victory was all the more remarkable given he is 42 and his famous volleying and reflexes at the net remain outstanding.

His three previous Wimbledon mixed-doubles titles came in 1999 (alongside Lisa Raymond); 2003 (with Martin Navratilova) and in 2010 (with Cara Black).

Meanwhile 17-year-old Indian Sumit Nagal became just the sixth Indian to win a Grand Slam junior title when he picked up the boys doubles trophy at Wimbledon with partner Nam Hoang Ly earlier on Sunday.

Nagal and his Vietnamese partner overcame Reilly Opelka and Akira Santillan 7-6, 6-4.

Yuki Bhambri was the last Indian to taste success at the top level in junior tennis when he won the Australian Open boys singles title in 2009.
