Filmmaker Karan Johar has come under attack for “not being able to take a joke” after his sexuality was alluded to in a Tweet about the historic legalization of same sex marriage in the United States.
Johar took to Twitter to hit back at the Tweet which said: “@KaranJohar to get married soon in USA”.
The director, whose sexuality has been a long-debated topic of conversation, responded: “It’s so sad and disgusting when a major breakthrough movement is made into a mockery by someone on Twitter. Shame!!!”
However, his anger backfired as scores of Twitter users hit back, many citing his high-profile appearance in the All India Bakchod (AIB) comedy roast earlier this year when he poked fun at a whole host of issues, including his own sexuality.
Among the most memorable lines from the AIB roast was when actor Ranveer Singh introduced Johar thus: “Karan Johar, director, writer, producer and actor. You are like four guys in one! Exactly how you like it!”
On another occasion, when Singh bent over on the stage pleading Johar for a role in his next role, the director promptly responded: “That’s my position, Ranveer.”
