Kailasa’s magical musical journey

Music composer extraordinaire Kailash Kher – the singer behind movie soundtracks as ‘Chandni Chowk to China’, ‘Dasvidaniya’ , Love Sex Aur Dhoka and of course ‘Allah Ke Bande…’ fame – has announced the launch of a fresh new album.  ‘Rangeele’ is the first release on Kher’s own label Kailasa Records and promises an unforgettable musical journey in Kher’s signature Kailasa style.
The album – penned and composed by Kher at the famous Kailasa studios in Mumbai – was unveiled at glittering event attended by a who’s who of luminaries from the film and music industries.  Amitabh Bachchan himself helped in the launch which was attended by heavyweights such as Anu Malik, Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, Anupam Kher and Prakash Jha among others.
Commenting about the album a visibly thrilled Kher said, “Rangeele is my accolade to love in all its forms, be it longing, passion, patriotism, devotion or even hatred. This album is extremely special for a number of reasons. Among the most powerful being that the artists featured in this album also include the unbelievable Mr Amitabh Bachchan. It also features my two-year-old son Kabir and is our record label, Kailasa Records, first album. Rangeele is also my gratitude to all my listeners since this is a reflection of my observation of my fans through my eight year career. I have tried to reciprocate the love and goodness they have extended to me and my band. Rangeele is like a canvas for my music. Listeners will enjoy and fill in the colours of their own expressions. But I know that everyone who hears Rangeele will have some songs that they will feel are their own.”
Kher’s music has frequently threatened to create a sub-genre of its own with its unique blend of soul, folk and traditional Indian music blending seamlessly to create a product with mass appeal. Rangeele, Kailash’s fourth album in conjunction with his band Kailasa, includes a two minute narration by the senior Bachchan who also features in the song ‘Dharti Pe Jannat Ka Nazara’
Other highlights include a vocal contribution from Kailash’s toddler son Kabir in ‘Samvaad (Hudkaan Maan Bitti)’, who looks destined to follow in his father’s footsteps, plus the inclusion of ‘Ambar Tak Yehi Naad Goonjege’, a track Kailsh wrote and performed in support of Anna Hazare’s fight against corruption in India.
Along with the music album, Kailasa Records has also created videos for the tracks, ‘Rangeele’ (a story of reaching out and achieving what you desire in life portrayed through the journey of a song), ‘Tu Kya Jaane’ (a story of love, in its endless forms) and ‘Yaada Teriyaan’ (discovering love from different perspectives).  Videos of other songs are currently in production with the record label planning to have at least nine for this album.
One music video is planned with a unique approach, whereby students of journalism and media across India will be invited to make a video for the selected track, which will be uploaded on Kailash’s YouTube channel and with the entrant receiving the most number of likes and/or hits emerging the winner.
