A country renowned as much for its beauty as its ruggedness as the location, a filmmaker renowned for his love of action as host and a host of celebs from the worlds of film, TV and sport daring to overcome their worst fears.
‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ is back for a new season on Colors TV as Indian television’s reality TV juggernaut continues to roll on.
The Indian version of Fear Factor has long followed other Indian adaptations of western reality TV shows such as the ‘Idol’, ‘Got Talent’ and ‘Bigg Brother’ franchises by being that much more dramatic, fast-paced, bombastic, filmy and, well, ‘Indian’.
The 2014 edition is set to continue in the same vein.
This year’s show will be set in South Africa and producers say they will make full use of a country which is home to locations that are among the most awe-inspiring and most treacherous on the planet; from the vertical peaks of Cape Town to the rugged bush in the interior of the country.
Helming the show this year will be none other than film director Rohit “The Fighter” Shetty, a man whose unabashed love for outrageous action sequences makes Michael Bay look like a Anna Hazare.
The director of ‘Chennai Express’ and the ‘Golmaal’ franchise will reportedly provide his input into what the contestants will be put through.
Among the stars slated to appear in the program are Salman Yussuf Khan, winner of the inaugural season of ‘Dance India Dance’; husband-and-wife and stars of ‘Nach Baliye 6’ Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonerjee; the stunning Maharashtrian model and ‘Fashion’ star Mughda Godse and veteran TV star Dayanand Shetty.
Speculation is also rife that producers are in talks to lure ‘Bigg Boss 7’ winner Gauhar Khan and her in-house love Kushal Tandon to the show.
The bi-weekly show kicks off first week of February.
