Actor Hrithik Roshan has described his up-coming sci-fi action thriller Krrish 3 as his “most ambitious film project to-date”.
Written, produced and directed by Hrithik’s father Rakesh, Krrish 3 is the sequel to Krrish (2006) and the third in the superhero franchise which began with ‘Koi…Mil Gaya’ (2003).
Production of the third instalment of the series began in December 2011 and Hrithik says it will take a further six months to put the finishing touches to the film.
“It is my most ambitious project. I have worked very hard. I have put all my passion into this. You go to sleep with a satisfaction in your heart and wake up with a mind buzzing with ideas. November 1 is the release date. I hope everything comes out well,” said Hrithik.
Apart from Hrithik Roshan in the lead role as superhero s9kna Mehra (Krrish), the film stars Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi as the evil ‘Kaal’.
The mega blockbuster has reportedly cost a staggering Rs 1.3 billion (approx. £15 million) to make.
Industry experts however, are expecting the film to mount the first serious challenge to the box office numbers of Aamir Khan’s ‘3 Idiots’, which remains the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time with a worldwide gross in excess of Rs 5.6 billion.
Krrish 3 is also set to spawn a lucrative animated TV series after director Roshan unveiled a new partnership between his home production company Filmkraft and Turner International India and Toonz Animation.
The partnership will create four, Krrish-based animated movies for Turner-owned Cartoon Network with the first movie airing July 14th.
The films will follow the childhood adventures of s9kna (a character in “Krrish”), who discovers that he can help people and save the world with the special powers bestowed upon him by ‘Jadoo’ (a character from “Koi Mil Gaya”).
“Krrish 3” is released worldwide November 1.
