#A R Rahman to rock The O2 this August

Music megastar A R Rahman is returning to London five long years after he took to a stage in the capital.

The double Grammy and Oscar-winner will perform at The O2 arena in southeast London on 15 August.

The one-off performance follows a hugely successful tour of the United States during which he mesmerized audiences with his increasingly eclectic musical fusions – the New York Times described those fusions simply “unforced”, which is arguably the best kind.

During his jaunt across America Rahman was joined on stage by numerous artists, including the nightingale-esque Jonita Gandhi.

In London, Rahman will be joined by a host of special guests, including Shweta Mohan, Neeti Mohan, Javed Ali, Srinivas and Karthik.

“The UK always brings back fond memories of working on landmark projects in my career and it’s good to be back again after five years”, Rahman says.

Rahman’s touring comes amidst a spectacularly busy period for the widely-loved composer who is currently giving (musical) life to two film spectaculars from two different parts of the world.

The first is Ashutosh Gowarikar’s historical epic Mohenjo Daro which stars Hrithik Roshan.  On the other side of the world, Rahman is lending his prodigious talents to ‘Pele’, a biopic on the Brazilian football legend.
