A woman murdered in an upmarket private street has been named by police as Sonita Nijhawan.
The 38-year-old was found dead at a house in the upmarket St George’s Hill area of Weybridge on Saturday morning, Surrey Police said. Her husband Sanjay was taken into custody at the scene.
A preliminary post mortem showed she died from head and neck injuries, the force said.
Detectives are continuing to question Mrs Nijhawan’s 46-year-old husband who is believed to be an investment banker in the City.
Mrs Nijhawan was reportedly found by police with her throat slashed and several stab wounds. According to reports her husband was attempting to slash his own throat when police arrived.
Police were called after a tip-off from a neighbour. The couple’s four-year-old son was rescued by emergency services.
Mr Nijhawan was later taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A neighbour who arrived on the scene immediately after the emergency services told Mail Online that the terrified youngster had witnessed the incident and was calling for his mother.
According to reports, the couple had moved into the multi-million pound property just two weeks ago.
The area is often described as the “Beverly Hills” of the UK and is home to a host of celebrities and footballers.
