The bloodied and shocked woman photographed moments after a massive bomb exploded at the departure lounge of Brussels airport has been revealed as Nidhi Chaphekar, an air stewardess flying with Jet Airways.
Ms Chapekar was captured with blood dripping from her head, cuts on her legs and feet, her hair full of dust and clothes ripped apart in one of the first photographs to emerge out of Brussels in the aftermath of the terror attack that left 35 people dead and hundreds wounded.
According to reports, Ms Chaphekar – a mother of two from Mumbai – had arrived at the terminal before a meeting with her colleagues and an onward flight to the US when two explosions ripped through the terminal.
Ms Chapekar has since been taken to a hospital in Antwerp where she has undergone an operation.
“She was waiting to board a flight from Brussels to Newark at 10.15am local time. She is a cabin crew member”, Jet Airways said in a statement.
Another Jet Airways cabin crew member, Amit Motwani, checked in “safe” on Facebook soon after the attacks.
