Two men have been arrested over “racist” tweets posted about Mikaeel Kular, the 3-year-old British-Sikh toddler who went missing in Edinburgh last week.
Derbyshire Police have arrested a 26-year-old man while a 19-year-old was taken into custody by Hampshire Police on suspicion of sending offensive tweets.
A Derbyshire force spokesman said that the arrests were made after “members of the public in Edinburgh complained about the content of some Twitter messages linked to the disappearance of Mikaeel Kular”.
Mikaeel vanished from his family apartment on Wednesday night. His body was later discovered by police at his aunt’s house in Fife, about 20 miles from Edinburgh.
His mother Rosdeep Kular, 33, has been arrested and charged with his death and is expected to appear at a court in Edinburgh on Monday.
