A bank worker from Hull who travelled to London just to take “up-skirt” pictures of women on Tube escalators, has been fined and given a community order.
Sameet Patel made the 150-mile trip once a month and also took pictures of women using the toilet and breastfeeding.
He was caught when two off-duty police officers spotted him photographing a mother nursing her child in Covent Garden.
Asked why he was snapping the woman, he replied: “Because I’m a d**k, I like it.”
Subsequent investigations revealed Patel had taken more than 9000 images on his computer.
Patel told Hammersmith Magistrate’s Court in London that he had lost his job and has had to move home because he is so ashamed of his “perverted” actions.
Patel, 38, admitted outraging public decency at Hammersmith Magistrate’s Court and fined a total of £145 and given a 12-month community order.
He was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.
