M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story is arguably the most anticipated Indian movie in decades – seeing as it marries India’s twin obsessions of cinema and cricket.
The film tells the story of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s most successful captain and an icon unsurpassed in neither the country’s history or its ancient mythology – a small town boy whose raw talent and magnetic personality has brought unprecedented success to Indian cricket and who inspires billions.
Written and directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Neeraj Pandey – who thankfully has confessed to not being a fan of cricket – the film stars the talented Sushant Singh Rajput in the central role of Dhoni and the stunning Kiara Advani as Dhoni’s wife Sakshi.
Sakshi had been a school mate of Dhoni’s in the couple’s home town of Dehradun, in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Their marriage in 2010 captured the imagination of an entire nation and, unsurprisingly, is a core element of ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’.

The romantic track ‘Phir Kabhi’ however attempts to capture Dhoni’s heartbreak before he married Sakshi.
The video depicts Dhoni’s first love interest – played by the actress Disha Patani – who reportedly died in an accident in 2002.
Composed by Amaal Mallik, with lyrics penned by Manoj Muntashir, Arijit Singh’s enchanting voice adds to the mood of the song.
M.S. Dhoni The Untold Story releases in cinemas on 30th September.
