#RaghavendraRathore: A fashionable piece of Rajasthan arrives in the UK.

As the Indian economy grows, many of the country’s denizens are looking West for inspiration – whether it’s movies or fashion.

Others however, are looking inwards and, gradually, outwards.

One of the country’s most iconic fashion brands, Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur, purveyor of classically styled ‘Bandhgala’ jacket and ‘Jodhpur’ pants – a sleeker version of the Nehru jacket and the famous breeches – is set to arrive in the UK.

Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur is the brainchild of designer Raghavendra Rathore, who is credited with reinterpreting the concept of Indian Royalty through design and luxury innovations, blending global sophistication and impeccable quality.

Inspired by the old world charm of Rajasthan, the Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur brand is driven by a clean and modern sensibility.

The label is synonymous with the revival of the Bandhgala and Jodhpurs – marrying 1400 years of regal Jodhpur heritage with contemporary design.

For its international launch, Raghavendra Rathore has curated a bespoke collection combining opulent luxury and renowned heritage to bring a traditional twist to the wardrobe of the modern man.

For the Rathore Breeches the brand combines the intricacies of rural craftsmanship with contemporary design and modern aesthetics, with the central theme of Polo — often referred to as the ‘sport of kings’ — giving the brand a particular historical and cultural significance to Rajasthan.

The Jodhpuri Bandhgala Jacket meanwhile is available in both short and long lengths.  Coveted by royalty and nobility, the Rathore Classic is a patented Bandhgala which oozes style and sophistication.

Other notable elements of the collection include stylish waistcoat sets and waistcoats for men as either ethnic dressing or to perfectly complement Western looks such as with tailored shirts, suits and (Jodhpuri) pants.

A member of the Jodhpur Royal family, Raghavendra Rathore began his creative journey with the study of Renaissance Art.

His path into fashion began following a stint at the Parsons School of Design in New York, which paved the way for him to work with Donna Karan, New York (DKNY) and subsequently, Oscar de la Renta.

Raghavendra Rathore cites his creative inspiration as drawing from his culturally and historically rich royal ancestry in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Speaking of his UK launch, Rathore said: “I’m excited the UK will get to experience, firsthand, the flamboyancy of the Maharajas of Jodhpur, transposed in time by my meticulous craftsmen and presented with a dash of British elegance.

“The collection highlights will be Classic Bandhgala Nehru jackets, Jawar waistcoats, Jodhpur breeches and Achkans, all of which will beautifully complement the soul of London. I’m also honoured that the designs and the cuts of my rural craftsman have found a place in a global hotspot like the UK, and this means a lot to my team.”

The brand launches in the UK in January 2016.

Raghavendra Rathore operates via a By Appointment Only service.  For more information, please visit his website.
