Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh comes screeching into cinemas this Friday with his new release ‘Sardaar Ji’, a lavishly produced comic romp that’s sure to get everyone laughing out of their seats.
In the groundbreaking fantasy flick, Dosanjh plays an orphaned boy named Jaggi who is able to communicate with ghosts. His ability to make friends with apparently scary but ultimately harmless otherworldly spirits make for some memorable comic moments.
Jaggi is enlisted by a young couple who have booked a beautiful country house in rural England for their wedding, only to find that the place is haunted.
Enter ‘Ghost Whisperer’ Jaggi who has to fly over to England to try and suss out this mesmerizing lady ghost and convince her to let the young couple get on with their special day.
Adding to Jaggi’s woes is the fact that the Queen herself is scheduled to attend the wedding!
Fantasy is a genre that is gaining traction in Bollywood and regional Indian cinema but ‘Sarjaar Ji’ is said to be a first, not only for its subject matter but also for the fact that it is one of the most expensive Punjabi films ever made with a production budget of more than £1 million.
The film also stars the stunning Neeru Bajwa, a frequent on-screen presence next to Dosanjh. The duo are widely considered the most formidable – not to mention beautiful – pairing in the business.
Dosanjh, who enjoys near-Demi God status in his native Punjab, is set to make his Bollywood debut in the up-coming Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Udta Punjab’.
‘Sardaar Ji’ will doubtless be a great opportunity for film fans to suss out this multi-talented young star.
