Shilpa Shetty enters gourmet food biz

As if owning an IPL franchise, hosting TV shows, starring in Bollywood blockbusters, being the most famously injured Big Brother housemate and snogging Richard Gere wasn’t enough, the stunning Shilpa Shetty Shilpa is embarking on yet another venture that’s sure to make fans’ mouths water. The beautiful and poised multi-tasker is launching her own range of authentic Indian vegetarian meals, appropriately titled Shilpa’s Gourmet Creations…

The range was officially launched by Ms Shetty February 08th at the Camden store of health food retailer Holland and Barrett’s amidst a throng of delirious fans and journalists. Shilpa’s Gourmet Creations recreates some of Shetty’s grandmother’s favourite recipes such as Mushroom Korma, Vegetable Masala and Onion Bhaji. The range will later expand to include chutneys and pickles.

Unsurprisingly enough for someone who maintains an enviable figure, the new food range reflects the star’s own eating habits, which stress a combination of delicious healthiness.

“Being vegetarian doesn’t mean your food has to be bland and rubbery. Indian vegetarian food never compromises on flavour and proves eating healthy can also be tasty!” said Shilpa.

The ready-to-eat meals are the result of a partnership between Shilpa and award winning chef Andy Varma, Chairman of V8 Gourmet Group, one of the largest Indian catering companies in Europe. Shilpa and husband Raj Kundra reportedly own a major stake in V8 Gourmet thought to be worth more than £6 million. The group are behind the famed Bombay Bicycle Club, Tiffinbite and Vama restaurant chains and enjoys a presence in a number of countries including Britain, the UAE and Jordan.
