Sikh siblings killed in footballer car crash in Manchester

A brother and sister killed in a car crash involving a Manchester City youth footballer have been named as Kulwant Singh, 32 and Ravel-Kaur Singh, 37.

The siblings were killed when a Mercedes driven by Courtney Meppen-Walter, 18, crashed into Mr Singh’s Nissan Micra in the Cheetham Hill area of Manchester on Saturday night.

Mr Singh’s two teenage sons suffered serious head injuries in the crash.

Meppen-Walter was arrested by police along with a 19-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.  Both men have since been bailed.

Several reports have suggested that Meppen-Walter and the second man were racing each other when the crash occurred around 10.15 pm.
