Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra’s warmly-received American TV debut ‘Quantico’ has been picked up for an additional six episodes by the network ABC.
Chopra plays FBI agent Alex Parrish, part of a group of new recruits, who is framed for masterminding a massive terror attack.
‘Quantico’ – which is the first prime time TV drama with a South Asian actress in the lead – has ranked No. 1 on Sunday’s in the lucrative 18 – 49-year group.
The programme has received warm reviews with Chopra coming in for particular praise – from how “ridiculously beautiful” she is to her acting chops as the beleaguered agent Parrish.
The 33-year-old former Miss World has long held ambitions of cracking America where she spent her formative teenage years.
After dabbling in a less well-received musical adventure she was determined to find the right avenue to realize her ambitions.
She told Entertainment Weekly last month: “I had a holding deal with ABC and I was very clear about the kind of show I wanted to do, because Indian people have always been…put in a box. So I wanted to sort of break that box.”
ABC and audiences it appears, agree.
