With Diwali approaching, Britain’s Indian community is gearing up for innumerable celebrations.
The annual Diwali Charity Ball organized by The Rajasthani Foundation, one of Britain’s biggest community organizations, is one of the highlights of the festive season in the UK.
This year’s event has added colour – appropriately enough – after it was revealed that the legendary Rajasthani folk singer-turned-Bollywood sensation Kailash Kher will be performing on the night of the event on 28th November at the plush Hilton, Park Lane.
Kher – the soulful and melancholy-inducing vocalist behind films such as ‘Chandni Chowk to China’ and ‘Dasvidaniya’ and acclaimed albums such as ‘Jhoomo Re’ and the seminal ‘Rangeele’ – will take to the stage alongside members of Kailasa, the group of musicians who give such vibrancy to Kher’s music.
Proceeds from the Diwali Ball will go towards TRF’s numerous charity projects in Rajasthan, an area widely known for its colourful heritage.
Among those projects is Jodhpur’s Navjyoti Manovikas Kendra a school for children and adults with mental health issues.
