Women: Natural Born Entrepreneurs

The key themes of an evening that brought together some of Britain’s high-achieving women entrepreneurs revolved around “engage, encourage, empower and enable”.

Guest speakers Rupinder Virdee, Director of Revolution Creative Agency; Sally Overhead, founder of Mojomums; Kiran Sharma, managing director of Kikit Limited; and Anjali Pathak, ambassador of the famous Patak’s food brand were brought together to engage and encourage other budding female entrepreneurs as part of the Women Empowered (WE) event at Bright Courtyard in London Wednesday 19th.

Each of them may have chosen a very different route to success but there was considerable common ground on the drive and passion that led them to their goals. Learning from mistakes, blocking out the bad advice and striking the right work-life balance would apply to all entrepreneurs irrespective of gender, but taking that initial plunge seemed like the biggest challenge in the case of female entrepreneurship.

As Virdee pointed out: “Once I had the idea, I just went for it. Failure was not an option. Being a woman does make it harder but not if you have the right support network.”

WE was founded by fellow entrepreneurs Reena Ranger and Mona Remtulla with the aim of empowering women to make the best of their individual skills and talent and help them achieve their professional and personal goals.

It provides them with a forum, platform and network where they can find support, mentoring and inspiration to translate their ideas into a real business.
WE will also be partnering with TiE UK, a non-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals, to offer mentoring schemes.
